Building trust to drive innovation at ONS 2022

Last week over 60 000 delegates from across the world descended on Stavanger to discuss a single topic - Trust.

Over the course of the week, more than 1000 exhibitors and keynote speakers, including technoking Elon Musk, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon of Norway, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, discussed topics within energy security, renewable energy, oil & gas, politics, and the road towards net zero.

The theme of this year's conference was trust, which is very fitting, considering that trust is the glue of our society. In a world that is constantly changing, it is more important than ever to build trust. Without trust, there would be no risk-taking, no collaboration, and ultimately no innovation. Trust is especially crucial to ESA, as our partners must be able to trust the results produced by AI to make business decisions. We had many great demonstrations of how we build trust in our systems and how that drives further innovation.

Our co-founder and Chief Solutions Officer, Eirik Larsen, says it best: "ONS 2022 demonstrated how the digitalisation of the energy industry is becoming a reality. With our race against the clock to reach net zero emissions by 2050, we need to utilise all available data to make the right investment decisions, and we need to do so fast. But we will not get there without trust. We pride ourselves in being a trusted partner for energy companies, to support them on their digitalisation journey and to help accelerate the transition to a low-carbon future."

Earth Science Analytics was fortunate enough to be a part of the ONS innovation park hosted by The Research Council of Norway, showcasing exciting new technologies related to the challenges facing the energy industry today. The Petromaks research grant provided by innovation Norway was transformative to our technology and business development and an excellent example of how trust and innovation go together.

We would not be where we are today without the trust we got from the Research Council of Norway five years ago. Thanks to them, we got the funding we needed to prove our technology, and we are forever grateful.

We want to thank the organisers of ONS 2022, who did a fantastic job! Both the conference and exhibition exceeded our expectations, and we're already looking forward to ONS 2024.
